About the Club:
The Rotary Club of Loyalton was chartered on March 3rd, 1939. Our Club is well known for its high level of fellowship, and its dedicated service to the citizens of Loyalton, the Sierra Valley and beyond. We are a highly spirited and enthusiastic mix of people working to put the principles of "service above self" into action. We improve the lives of others, locally and across the globe, through mutual support, community outreach, and a tremendous degree of dedication and enthusiasm to serve.
Objectives:
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and in particular, to encourage and foster: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.High ethical standards in business and profession; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarianof his occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business, and community life.
The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Loyalton, California is a town of about 800 souls located in Sierra Valley, the largest alpine valley in North America. It is the largest town in Sierra County which has a total population of about 3000 people.
The Valley is home to a number of ranches which produce beef cattle and hay and Loyalton is home to people who work in many different professions locally and in nearby Reno.
Loyalton epitomizes small town America and at its elevation of 5000', inspires individual responsibilty and self-reliance.
Sierra County was the site of Gold Fever in the 1850's and later a strong logging tradition. Smithneck creek, one of the headwater tributaries of the Feather River runs through the center of town
The valley was originally settled by Swiss pioneers who understood how to raise cattle at high elevation. They produced cheese and also supplied hay to the miners in the Gold Country to the west. Many of these famillies still operate ranches in the valley
